Ourlads' Profile:

2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about CHRIS OLAVE:

Ohio State, 6003 187 4.26. Junior entry, three-year starter, San Marcos, CA. Earned second-team All-America honors in 2021 in addition to first-team All-Big 10 the past two seasons. A smooth and easy operator who moves with the kind of natural suddenness to constantly get open underneath and intermediate. No matter where he lines up, he will find the holes in coverage and become a quarterback’s best friend. In a league where separation is key, Olave may be the most reliable in that department. His attention to detail and ability to glide while moving at his top rate will bring him to open space. While his response to traffic and approach to catching the ball needs some refining, he is a safe bet to be an ideal complementary, number two target in any kind of passing attack. A sure, reliable route runner who understands spacing and timing. Gets off the line in a hurry. Zero wasted motion with outstanding movement aesthetics. Crisp, sharp cuts in and out of breaks that will consistently gain separation underneath and intermediate. Sudden reactions, both planned and unplanned. Keeps his eyes and head still when tracking the ball. Has the look of an ice skater when moving at his top level of speed. Such easy, natural body control. Plants his foot into the ground and can burst away from coverage. Gets his head around fast. A true hustler who will show effort as a downfield blocker. Does not respond well to traffic. Can get knocked off his point due to a lack of strength and power in his slight frame. Inconsistent approach to the ball. Will too often allow the ball into his numbers. Needs to show more urgency with his hands. Doesn’t have the final gear to consistently take the top off the defense. Lack of strength and power will prevent broken tackles after the catch.

2021 stats: 65-936, 14.4 ypr, 13 TD. OSR:16/33. First/second round. (A-31 1/8, H-9 1/2, VJ-32, SS-DNP).
