Ourlads' Profile:

2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about BREECE HALL:

Iowa State, 5112 217 4.39. Junior entry, three-year starter, Wichita, KS. Was the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and was a first team All-America in both 2020 and 2021. The two-time finalist for the Doak Walker Award rewrote 11 school records and scored a touchdown in 24 consecutive games, a NCAA record. Hall is a highly decorated back who brings a combination of size, natural power, and burst that will fit best into a zone-based scheme. His patience comes from the confidence he has to reach his top gear in a hurry while running through arm tackles. While he isn’t the fastest or most agile ball carrier, his ability in a phone booth is top notch. He is a smart runner that understands how to read and manipulate the situation in front of him on the fly. He has number one running back ability for teams that need a horse to lead the group, but can also be an accessory piece to a two-back system that needs a sizable part. Either way, his ability to produce will be there from day one and has big upside. Imposing figure that carries 220+ pounds with ease. Top heavy body type that can lean forward and throw extra force into the tackler when lowering his shoulder. Light footwork that can adjust on the fly. Has plus vertical burst out of his breaks. Patient runner who can anticipate and read the defense, making sound decisions to maximize his carries. Puts that foot in the ground and will create power with his rate of movement. Sets defenders up and plays mental games with them. Will force tacklers in space to commit to a certain direction and creates a move out of that spacing. Understands angles and where to manipulate. Will do his best to avoid traffic but knows when to use his mass and push the pile for an extra yard or two. Easy and natural pass catcher with sure hands. Athleticism has a cap to it that shows up in space. Does not have the long speed to outrun defensive backs in space. A one-cut runner who lacks the wiggle and looseness below the waist. Shows lethargic tendencies and will struggle to adjust with multiple cuts. Size and power do not show up as a blocker.

2021 stats: 1472 yds, 5.8 ypc, 20 TD, 36 rec, 302 yds, 8.4 ypr, 3 TD. OSR:1/28. First/second round. (A-31 1/4, H-9 3/4, BP-DNP, SS-DNP).
