Junior-entry, three-year starter. Team captain in 2023. Third-team All-America and second-team All-SEC in his first season at LSU in 2022, SEC All-Freshman team in 2021 at Missouri. Has aligned all across the defensive line from zero-tech to the edge. Possesses marginal height and weight with a bowling ball-type build and very short arms. Elite athleticism matched with a high motor makes him challenging to block. Uses his burst off the snap to get impressive knockback in the backfield. Solid lower body strength to anchor in run support against solo blocks. As a two-gapper, keeps hips square to the backfield with impressive lateral agility to leverage his gaps. Despite his fast and physical playstyle, stays upright regularly with good balance. Powerful bull rush inside and off the edge to collapse the pocket. Shows a decent variety of pass rush moves especially his dip-and-rip move to get under the lineman’s pads. Best in pass rush on stunts and slants where he uses exceptionally quick feet and excellent agility to cross-face in a split second and attack lanes. Shows off his foot speed when chasing in pursuit. A sure tackler with proper form to bring ball carriers to the ground. Inconsistent reaction time at the snap. Without momentum off the line, he struggles to get significant push into the backfield. While he does a good job extending and locking out, his lack of length makes it difficult to create space between him and the offensive lineman. Struggles to disengage from blocks if he does not win right on engagement. Due to lack of size, he cannot be relied upon to hold his own against double teams. When setting the edge he gets walked back, creating massive holes inside of him. Needs to improve his counter rush moves as not to stall out as regularly in pass rush.
