One year starter. Honorable mention All-Big 10 in 2023. Has well above average length and height for an edge rusher. Has room to add bulk. Was a rotational stand up edge defender playing in a wide nine. Mostly a rush defender but was used to drop in the flat at times. Length creates issues for quarterbacks in the throwing lane. Quick to shoot his hands at the snap and is adept at getting separation on initial contact. Sets the edge versus the run with powerful hands to stack and shed. Comes off blocks and makes tackles on perimeter runs. Solid tackling skill he can wrap and drive through tackles. Has been used effectively on exit and tex stunts to get penetration in the backfield. Improving as a pass rusher he shows some power working against tackles and has been effective with a bull rush into an arm under. Solid effort he keeps his feet moving and can push the pocket. Had his best production at the end of the season. Has a tendency to play tall and has to consistently focus on leverage to control blockers. Otherwise he is stalemated. Lateral agility and snap quickness are average. Occasionally allows blockers into his frame and is washed out of the play. His fit in the NFL will depend on the team. He could be a 3-4 outside linebacker in some schemes or pick up some mass and play a five technique. Has backup potential and special teams will be a factor in making a team.
