Three year starter. Second-team All-Big 12 in 2023. Duke has solid physical attributes for a 3-4 outside linebacker. He’s been with Kansas State for five years and played through a change in defense and two position changes. Started as a defensive end in a four man front and then moved off the ball and overhang as a linebacker in the 3-3 they switched to in 2022. He moved back to defensive end in five alignment and three point stance this past season and it paid off. Extreme snap quickness he uses long arms to separate from blocks and can slip a block working a tackle’s outside half. He’s been effective on inside stunts. Has range to chase to the perimeter and across the field. Has notable wrap and drive tackling skill. As a pass rusher, first step quickness and upfield burst is his calling card. Shows an inside counter with slight hesitation to keep a blocker off balance. Lacks power and functional strength to take on straight up or inside out lead blocks. He’s too easily neutralized on off tackle and inside runs. In the pass rush if he doesn’t win with the first move he can get ridden out. Will need to develop more technique and add to his pass rush arsenal to succeed in the NFL. In past seasons he has some flat cover experience and played from a two point stance. That will serve him well as his projection is probably as a 3-4 outside linebacker.
