Ourlads' Profile:
2017 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about KARTER SCHULT: Northern Iowa, 6025 263 4.93. Two-year starter from Tripoli, IA. The non-stop high energy athlete was voted the Buck Buchanan Award as the absolute best defender in FCS football. He has been a two-time FCS All-America as well as a Co-Sida Academic All-America and a Missouri Valley Conference first-team member for two years. Schult was a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy Award (college football’s academic Heisman Trophy) and a member of the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society. The Foundation honors college football players who have maintained a cumulative 3.20 GPA or better throughout their college career. Schult is one of those players who says “don’t tell me what I can’t do but let me show you what I can do.” A team player in every sense of the word, does his job and if he doesn’t make the play he forces the action into the teeth of a defense. Plays with good bend and leverage. Ultra productive racking up 17 sacks and 24 tackles for loss. He holds the Northern Iowa career record with 56 tackles for loss. The consensus All-America was also FCS Defensive Player of the Year as well as the Missouri Valley Defensive Player of the Year. Schult also was first on the all-time quarterback hurries with 20 and second in Panthers’ career sacks with 35.5. His length and arms are shorter than ideal and his hand size is under nine inches. He’s a little stiff and is lighter than optimal. All he does is make plays. Shrine Game notes: He is relentless and technique sound. Has a quick arm over move to get quickly in the backfield. He doesn’t rush deeper than the quarterback as to not let the quarterback duck under him. Good agility to work through traffic. Contain conscious. If he doesn’t get a sack he helps collapse the pocket so a teammate can. Good week of practice. 2016 stats: 74 T, 24 TFL, 17 sacks, 1 PBU, 4 QBH, 2 FF, 1 INT. Not invited to Combine. Seventh round/PFA. (A-31, H-8 5/8, BP-30, 10-1.69).
