Ourlads' Profile:
2017 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about JORDAN STERNS: Oklahoma State, 5107 196 4.64. Three-year starter from Cibolo, TX. Three consecutive years of 100 plus tackles elevated Sterns into the top ten Cowboy tacklers of all time. First-team All-Big 12 in 2016. Good initial movement with a fluid pedal. Primarily a deep safety playing halves, quarters and free safety in Oklahoma State’s one high coverages. Plays the deep zones well, getting good leverage on receivers. Shows good ball skills with solid reactions on the throw. Not always high point on the ball but has good hands. Quick in transitions in all directions. Sudden break on the throw. At his best in deep zone coverage. Shows the ability to flip his hips and get over the top of a vertical route. Occasionally rolls up to the box and matches up or works in a short hook or flat zone. Has some functional catch up speed. Good range in pursuit. Around the ball a lot. Gets to a lot of plays from a distance. Solid tackler. Overall has good agility in movement. Lacks the ideal stature for an NFL safety but has good athletic ability for the position. Does most things well but could use a little more bulk and needs to develop consistency in tackling technique. Has cover skills and fits as a cover safety on teams that play multiple zone coverage. Senior Bowl notes: Had a good week of practice demonstrating good instincts and anticipation. Has good coverage range and takes good pursuit angles. Sticks his foot in the ground and drives quickly on the ball. Good ball skills. 2016 stats: 101 T, 5.5 TFL, 5 PBU, 3 INT. Not invited to Combine. Sixth/seventh round. (A-31 3/8, H-8 7/8, VJ-36, SS-4.32).
