2024 NFL Prospect Rankings: Cornerbacks

Alabama

Projected Round: 1

Two-year starter. Started his career as a safety with some work in the slot. Made a remarkable transition to corner and is still considered an ascending player. At his best in press coverage, he can be physical at the line disrupting the release. Very sticky in man coverage he’s adept at mirroring route breaks giving very little throwing window throughout the route. Shows patience in press and ignores the first move away from leverage and consistently maintains inside leverage in man coverage. Fluid hips and footwork create sudden transitions reacting and breaking on the ball. Length and size show up in run support and tackling while working downhill. Improving zone defender but needs to close voids quicker and play with a consistent cushion in off coverage. Has elite tools and skill to work with.

Toledo

Projected Round: 1

Three year starter. Highly productive corner from the MAC with desired size, length and speed for the position. Has some experience in the slot. Primarily used in off zone and man coverage he plays with a precise cushion and times his transitions to stay with receivers through the route. Excellent zone skills he’s quick to close voids and balances overlapping zones. Has a burst to break on the ball on underneath throws making some big hits in the process. Has the speed to stay with deep vertical routes and lock out a receiver up the field. He has excellent ball skills with a knack for disrupting the catch point. Has been incredibly productive getting his hands on balls with pass breaks and interceptions. He’s somewhat prone to double moves as he can be too quick to jump a route at times. Will give up leverage at times with premature reactions.

Iowa

Projected Round: 1-2

Versatile player with experience at safety and nickel. Has desirable size for a corner or safety. Experienced in multiple coverage schemes. At his best in off coverage but also has been effective in press and press and bail concepts. He shows a deliberate pedal and usually maintains cushion and times transitioning to lateral and turn and run. In press he flashes an off-hand jam to disrupt release. Solid short area agility he show excellent instincts in zone coverage. Adept at hard corner technique. Remarkable ball skills he anticipates the throw with vision to read the delivery key and ability to high point the ball. Gets to the catch point and wins most 50/50 battles. Return skill a plus.

Alabama

Projected Round: 1-2

Physical corner with ideal size and athletic skill for the position. Fluid easy movement allows him to mirror route breaks and plant and drive with the ball in the air. Physical in press he shows a stiff off-hand jam at the line to disrupt the release. He shows the speed to stay in phase up the field. Effective zone defender balancing routes in overlapping zones. Can be physical in run support with solid tackling skill. Can improve ball skills as he rarely plays the ball in phase.

Clemson

Projected Round: 1-2

Two-year starter with All-ACC honors the past two seasons. Long tall corner who uses his frame well in critical areas of corner play. Excellent press corner he’s patient and ignores the first move away from his leverage. Length gives him an advantage using a two and off-hand jam to disrupt routes. Easy turn and run he can mirror routes off the line and is sudden in transition. Lateral agility and footwork allow him to breakdown and stick double moves. Solid zone defender he has vision to see the quarterback and balance routes. Quick to plant and drive with the ball in the air. Can be inconsistent with footwork with extra or rounded off steps at times. Not the most physical tackler as he has some misses and will give up yards after contact. Occasionally will jump a route prematurely getting him out of position.
