Started his career as a wide receiver but quickly adapted to corner as a red-shirt sophomore. Has outstanding length for the position. Played a variety of coverage including man to man along with multiple zone schemes. Solid in both press and off man. Adept at reacting to a receiver release at the line. Patient in press he rarely loses leverage and can stick an off-hand jam to disrupt a route. Consistently ignores first move away from leverage and is quick reacting to double moves. Rarely out of position on a route he’s quick to mirror and cut off route breaks. Sudden in transition he’s sudden closing on receivers and breaking on the throw. Consistent with eye discipline he keeps his focus on the receiver in man cover. Has a knack for getting his hands to the catch point with excellent timing. In off man maintains cushion and times his turn and run to stay in phase. Has the speed to handle vertical routes. Often appears to be running the route for the receiver. Plays corner like a wide receiver with the ball in the air on a deep throw. Locks out a receiver and wins most battles for the ball. Has made some spectacular interceptions. He can be physical taking on blocks and has solid tackling skill. Flashes zone skill closing voids in a short space. Has shown some inconsistency dealing with multiple routes in zone and has been caught jumping a route. Has had some injuries including an ACL in 2017 and missed time with back spasms in 2019. Was coming off a procedure to deal with the back issue heading into the 2020 season. If he passes team physicals, he is a lock as a mid-first round selection.
