The Beaufort, SC native then transferred to Miami. Plays with awareness in zone coverage. Quick pedal in off coverage, maintaining cushion. Recognizes route combinations and reacts quickly on the throw. Shows press skill with an off-hand jam that can lock up a receiver with his length. Solid in run support with good shed technique. Tackles well in space with power and finish. Shows speed to stay in phase on vertical routes versus most receivers. Struggles at times with double moves and can get separated. Shows mirror ability on cuts. Will occasionally lunge at a tackle. Did not make a lot of plays this past season in a new system but has some tools. Could project inside as a nickel/dime or may have the instincts for a conversion to safety. Played in only nine games in 2017. Shrine Game notes: Had a good week of practice and quietly had a very good game as he locked up receivers in man cover and was rarely challenged. The corners on the East played a lot of outside technique in man coverage which makes covering crossing routes difficult. Delaney showed his speed and chased a crosser across the field and broke up a pass. He has quick feet and reactions to go with good mirror ability in man coverage. 2017 stats: 39 T, 1.5 TFL, 1 INT.
