Ourlads' Profile:
2012 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about HARRISON SMITH: Notre Dame, 6017 213 4.56. Four-year starter who is an instinctive and active player that hustles in pursuit. Gets downhill quickly on run support and reacts well in space. Would like to see him make more plays because he is always around the ball. Needs work on coverage skills. Solid coverage as a Cover-3 strong safety. Struggles in deep and man coverage. Good body control with sure explosive wrap and finish tackles. He’s had a few classic hit, lift, and carry tackles in his Notre Dame career. Built like the poster boy for physical safeties. Will blitz off the edge and be disruptive in the backfield. The downside to his big hits are big misses at times. He appears tighter in the hips than he is according to his backpedal, turn, and run drill times. Smart enough to learn both safety positions. For our purposes we’ll start him out at free safety. 2011 stats: 90 tackles, 10 PBU, 1 FF, 1 FR. BTR:left 4.57, right 4.52. OSR:1/20. First/second round. (A-32 5/8, H- 10 1/8, VJ-34, SS-4.12).
