Ourlads' Profile:
2018 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about DONTE JACKSON: LSU, 5104 178 4.32. Junior entry and two-year starter from Metairie, LA. After an extremely successful and accomplished high school track career, the two-sport athlete arrived on the LSU campus and continued his prowess on both platforms. Finished his track career as one of the top sprinters in the nation, both as an individual and as part of the 4x100 relay team. On the gridiron, he was a standout among a very talented and deep secondary. Proved to be more than an athlete that plays football. His speed is obvious. However he also has elite level quickness, agility, and reaction. Used most often as a boundary corner or over a slot. Lacks bulk and length but has outstanding playing speed and leaping ability. Used most often in press but has good skill backed off. Maintains cushion with a good pace and is smooth on his turn and run. Outstanding mirror ability off the line showing quick reactions to double moves at the snap. Not the most physical. A strong receiver can knock him off the line at the snap. As a press man corner is occasionally separated on cuts on an intermediate route. Shows an occasional stutter step in transition. His recovery speed and quickness more than compensates. Gets back in phase quickly and has remarkable closing speed. As a zone corner with the play in front of him has a sudden break on the ball. Lacks great ball skills. Leaping ability gets him to balls when in phase and he can break up passes. Willing tackler but has a tendency to duck his head. 2017 stats: 49 T, 3.5 TFL, 10 PBU, 1 QBH, 1 INT. BTR:left 4.80, right 5.01. OSR:6/41. Second/third round. (A-29 1/2, H-8 3/4, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).
