A versatile edge/outside linebacker prospect with outstanding size for the position along with good overall athletic ability. Excellent first step quickness as an edge rusher along with the change of direction skill necessary to play in space. Normally lined up on the edge in a two-point stance but has also aligned on a slot outside the box. He is an every down player that was used as a pass rusher in sub-packages. Can bend and squeeze to get around the corner with the ability to close with a burst. Adept at using his hands to attack a blocker and has a variety of moves to get free. Generally creates havoc with consistent pressure on the quarterback. While pass rush is his forte, Allen has coverage ability dropping in short zones and the speed to play backs on flat routes. Reacts quickly on the throw to receivers in underneath zones. Not used often in coverage but has the ability to be a factor. Plays the edge run well and hustles as a chase player covering a lot of ground in pursuit. A powerful fundamental tackler who can create turnovers with his strike. Consistently makes tackles in space. Struggles at times versus physical offensive linemen and will lock up occasionally on a block and play upright. Needs some work on shedding a block and maintaining knee bend. Better in pursuit than when the play is right at him, but has the power to hold up at the point of attack. Needs consistent gap discipline as at times will lose outside leverage and allow a quarterback to break contain.
