Ourlads' Profile:
2019 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about DAWSON KNOX: Mississippi, 6043 254 4.65. Junior entry and two year starter from Brentwood, TN. A former high school receiver and quarterback who was a highly touted track athlete. He will “wow” many in workouts with top tier explosion and speed at his size, but still has a ways to go when it comes to the football skill set. Knox didn’t get a lot of looks in the loaded Ole Miss passing attack but when he did, he often delivered. The former walk-on has a grinder-mentality that, matched with his natural ability and improving techniques, can be molded into a difference maker at the next level. Strongly built with athletic, functional thickness throughout his entire frame. Has plenty of quick twitch and on-demand explosion. Comfortable mover in tight areas as well as in the open field. Natural athlete. Excellent eye-hand coordination when pursuing the ball. Hand accuracy is a plus, can really snag it. Will adjust his bodyweight to inaccurate balls seamlessly. Pursues the ball with extra burst available at all times. Accurate hands as a blocker. Drops his hips with ease and adjusts well post-contact. Still growing as a blocker and showed notable improvement over the past two years. Remains rough around the edges. Made the move to tight end during his red-shirt season in 2015. Doesn’t have a lot of experience as an inline blocker, as the scheme often had him in the slot or off the line. Won’t get a lot of movement off the ball and struggles to adjust to double moves. Needs to improve as a route runner, as his breaks in and out don’t match his athleticism. 2018 stats: 15-284, 18.9 ypr, 0 TD. Medical exclusion at Combine, hernia surgery. Third/fourth round. (A-33 1/4, H-9 3/4, VJ-34.5, SS-4.27).
