Ourlads' Profile:
2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about AJ DILLON: Boston College, 6003 247 4.47. Junior entry, three-year starter, New London, CT. The program’s all time leader in rushing and touchdowns. Winner of the 2017 ACC Rookie of the Year Award and two time first-team All ACC honoree in addition to being named an All-America last fall. Has the kind of body that you don’t see running with the ball often. Is bigger than most linebackers but also has good straight line speed and burst, making him a back that will wear down a defense over time. He lacks big play innovation, but can be a productive short yardage back in a committee backfield. If he can improve his forward lean and get more aggressive, he will be a weapon near the goal line and when tough yards are needed. Imposing figure that carries the majority of his weight below the waist. Has quads the size of a man’s waist. Thick all the way down to the ankles with plus-balance and burst. Moves fast in a straight line and will be the aggressor in space. Will push piles stemming from his power and balance. Takes on contact well, will lower his center of gravity and gain yards after contact. Does a nice job of finding the running lanes and will show a surprising burst downhill. Top tier production from day one with a nose for the end zone. Doesn’t always run behind his pads. Puts his foot on the brakes too early, too often. Needs to run with more forward lean and aggression to pick up yards economically. Shows stiff movement when going left and right. Lacks late pop in his adjustments. Not a natural pass catcher and ducks his head on contact as a blocker, making his impact all or nothing on the first blow. 2019 stats: 1685 yds, 5.3 ypc, 14 TD, 13 rec, 195 yds, 15.0 ypr, 1 TD. OSR:2/33. Third/fourth round. (A-31 5/8, H-9 5/8, BP-23, SS-DNP).
