Ourlads' Profile:
What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about DANIEL THOMAS: Auburn, 5100 215 4.51. Two-year starter, Montgomery Alabama. Stocky strong safety who is at his best close to the box. Has played the nickel spot but also has experience in quarters and playing the deep half. Plays downhill with a burst in run support and takes sure angles to the ball. Flashes take-on ability and can slip a block on the move. Squares up tackles and drops ball carriers in their tracks. As a box safety is an effective blitzer making plays in the backfield. Quick in flat zone drops he is quick to break on underneath routes. Balances vertical routes as a half player and can open his hips to get to the sideline and over the top. Lacks quick lateral agility and movements can be segmented. Has speed but more straight line than lateral. Occasionally runs into a block and struggles to shed. Not the best matched up as he can get separated on route breaks. Has been outstanding in kick coverage and special teams will be a factor. Projects to compete for a special teams/backup spot. 2019 stats: 74 T, 5.5 TFL, 1 PBU, 1 FF. OSR:7/24. Sixth/seventh round. (A-31 5/8, H-9 1/4, VJ-37, SS-DNP).
