Ourlads' Profile:
2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about JUSTIN STRNAD: Wake Forest, 6033 238 4.75. Two-year starter, Palm Harbor FL. A former defensive back Strnad was a sub package linebacker as a sophomore before breaking into the lineup as a junior. A torn biceps limited him to eight games in 2019 but was still honorable mention All-ACC. Has experience outside and inside. Reactive on the snap he shows a quick downhill burst on his read. Changes direction quickly and avoids blocks without losing ground. Can slip a block working to an inside gap or outrun a block chasing on the edge. Has sideline to sideline range and hustles in pursuit making plays on the perimeter. Effective blitzer with a clean shot at an inside gap. Solid tackling skill with gather and strike. Excels in coverage with quick drops and ability to flip his hips to get in the throwing lane. Quick to break on the throw showing ball skills to get to the catch point. Has matchup skill and can mirror backs out of the backfield. Has a thin frame for extra weight and struggles to take on blocks. Can get ridden out easily if engaged. Lacks power and occasionally gives up yards after contact or has a tackle broken. Will misread a gap at times being late or too early getting downhill. At times gets attracted to the underneath route giving up the intermediate throw behind him. Has been outstanding in special teams and some teams may project him to a Will in a 4-3. He should be solid as a cover linebacker and contribute on special teams. 2019 stats: 69 T, 5.5 TFL, 2 sacks, 4 PBU, 1 QBH, 1 INT. Edge speed:left 2.08, right 2.04. OSR:16/19. Seventh round/PFA. (A-31 3/4, H-9 1/8, BP-DNP, SS-4.49).
