Ourlads' Profile:
2018 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about JALEN DAVIS: Utah State, 5093 181 4.44. Four-year starter from La Mesa, CA. Fluid movements with a quick pedal when backed off and a physical off-hand jam when pressed. Shows solid mirror ability in press and can disrupt the route with his jam up the field. Can stay in phase on a vertical route. When backed off shows a sudden plant and drive with outstanding balls skills for the pass breakup and interception. High points the interception and can get his hand quickly into the catch point to break up a pass. Shows skill in outside zone coverage with the ability to reroute as a hard corner. Often plays over a slot and is effective backed off, reacting in the short zones along with matching up to a slot. Good blitz skill off the edge with a burst to close. Decent tackling skill as a hang on and drag tackler but will give up yards after contact occasionally. Not the most aggressive taking on a stalk block and can get upright and moved out. Will get hung up reacting to lateral cuts. Takes false steps at times and will lose leverage. Shows some inconsistency in zone coverage as he will give too much room or let a receiver get by him without a reroute. Sometimes overly aggressive in press and jam and is in danger of holding and interference calls. Will give up a double move at times and catch up speed is questionable. Lacks great size but shows versatility to play outside corner and inside on a slot. This along with elite ball skills gives him a shot to make a team. 2017 stats: 33 T, 5 TFL, 4 sacks, 15 PBU, 1 FF. Not invited to Combine. Pro day numbers: 10/BJ, 6.99/3 cone. Sixth/ seventh round. (A-29 5/8, H-9 1/8, VJ-36, SS-4.25).
