Ourlads' Profile:

2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about PAT FREIERMUTH: Penn State, 6046 258 4.85. Junior entry, three-year starter, Merrimac, MA. Two-time captain and two-time All-Big 10 honoree. The 2019 All America played in just four games as a junior, but still won the conference’s Tight End of the Year Award. A classic Y-tight end who can stay on the field in all situations. His weaponry will revolve around the ability to make plays in the passing game with his size, contact strength, and toughness. A blue-collar type player on the field with developed smarts and intelligence. Reads the field exceptionally well and combined with his short area quickness, he has all the makings of being a big time short and intermediate threat that can add production after the catch. Will do most of his damage near the end zone and on third and medium, two areas where the best offenses thrive. He isn’t overly explosive, and he won’t move defensive linemen off the ball, but his contributions will be well rounded, consistent, and reliable. Creates mismatches against linebackers and defensive backs. Also possesses a quick and agile lower half. Advanced and effective route runner that will read a defense on the run. Gets in and out of breaks in a hurry and is quick to get his head around. Can adjust to the ball. Will make the tough catch over the middle, extending his body with defenders bearing down. A weapon near the end zone. Knows the game well, tries hard consistently, and plays with a refreshing sense of toughness and grit. Still needs to develop his game as a blocker. Won’t lock his hands onto the defender, doesn’t sustain well enough. Can lose his anchor against linemen and get thrown off his balance  point. Lacks top end speed. Can be caught from behind. Doesn’t have the burst to run away from defenders. Underwent surgery on his shoulder after sustaining an injury about halfway through the 2020 season and missed the final five games of his career. 2020 stats: 23-310, 13.5 ypr, 1 TD. Second/third round. (A-32 1/2, H-9 7/8, VJ-NA, SS-NA).
