Ourlads' Profile:
2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about BARON BROWNING: Ohio State, 6031 241 4.56. One-year starter, Fort Worth TX. Prior to 2020 his versatility put him on the field most of the time either rotating in the middle or in sub packages. Has the length, size and athletic ability NFL teams dream about for a linebacker. Flashed big play ability in 2019 and picked up where he left off last fall. Athletic with lateral movement, quick change of direction and playing speed. Plays with knee bend and is quick to strike and get off blocks on the move. Fits inside gaps well and is a solid pursuit player with sideline to sideline range. Flashes downhill ability and can make plays in the backfield. With sound fundamental tacking ability he can break down and make plays in space. Has been used in long yardage situations as a spy on an athletic quarterback. Has been an effective inside and outside blitzer with a quick first step and the ability to bend the corner on the edge. Covers a lot of ground in coverage and is quick to break on the ball. Zone awareness has become a strength as he closes voids well and gets depth in pass drops. Matches up well on backs releasing with the agility to mirror route breaks. Has had some inconsistency in pursuit angles as he will over and under run a play at times. Needed to improve reading inside keys going into the season and for the most part he has shown instincts fitting gaps. His versatility was on display during Senior Bowl week as he played on the edge in a three and two point stance along with demonstrating sound inside linebacker play. His ability along with versatility will be attractive for any NFL team. 2020 stats: 30 T, 3 TFL, 1 sack, 2 PBU, 2 FF. Second/third round. (A-33, H-10, BP-23, SS-4.22, VJ-40).
