Solid fundamentals he usually is in the right place in the scheme and sticks to responsibility. As a deep safety, plays with the right cushion and gets downhill with good angles. At his best in the box or as a tight quarters safety. Has linebacker-like reactions getting downhill and uses his long arms to separate from blocks working to the ball. Tough to block in space he can get to the perimeter and make plays near the line. Solid tackling skill he gathers and sinks his hips driving through tackles. Normally has good inside out leverage on tackles. As a flat defender he gets depth in his drop with good positioning to read the quarterback and react on the short throw. Tackles receivers in their tracks. At his best matching tight ends with eye discipline to focus on the receiver and react to route breaks. Has average agility and is a step slow reacting at times. At his best in a short space. In deep coverage makes more tackles than plays on the ball. Not sudden reacting on the throw and as a result there is very little ball production in his career. Occasionally overruns a play on the perimeter and change of direction isn’t always enough to recover. Has been average as a safety but his future may be as a hybrid/safety or situational linebacker to take advantage of what he excels at.
