Ourlads' Profile:
2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about SHAUN WADE: Ohio State, 6005 195 4.40. Junior entry, three-year starter, Jacksonville, FL. Played primarily slot corner prior to 2020 but played outside this past season. Has the length NFL teams desire to go with agility and speed. Has played off and press man along with deep outside zone coverage. Playing off coverage he plays with a proper cushion and times speed of pedal, lateral run and turn to stay in phase. He normally maintains leverage and quickly recovers if beaten off the line. Balances multiple routes in outside zones and quickly finds the inside deep corner route. Can be physical in press disrupting the release with an offhand jam. Quick to mirror routes from shifty receivers and cut off route breaks. Has the speed to stay with vertical and deep drag routes. As a slot corner displayed outstanding zone and man skill in a variety of coverage. As a flat defender had a knack for finding the throwing lane on high/low routes and closing voids in zones. Had the ability to see the quarterback and threats playing underneath zones. Quick to close with the ball in the air. Shows ball skills for the pass break with the ability to play a receiver’s hands. Normally physical versus the run and tackles well in space. Solid blitz skill off the edge. Playing outside exposed some weakness which need to be addressed. With his back to the boundary had some trouble defending out cuts and staying in phase deep. Was inconsistent at the line and whiffed at times creating separation and recovery mode. At times vulnerable to double moves at the line and giving up leverage too easily. Had some trouble finding the ball in phase and gave up some contested catches for touchdowns. A work in progress outside but has versatility and solid NFL talent. 2020 stats: 35 T, 1 TFL, 4 PBU, 2 INT (1 TD). Third/fourth round. (A-33 1/2, H-9 1/4, VJ-NA, SS-NA).
