Ourlads' Profile:
2018 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about OREN BURKS: Vanderbilt, 6031 233 4.61. Four-year starter and two-year captain from Fairfax Station, VA. Has started at three different positions including two at free safety, one as a hybrid/nickel, and this past season as an inside linebacker. Good length for the position. Outstanding change of direction with quick reactions. Makes a lot of plays in pursuit showing range, lateral quickness, and speed. Ability to slip blocks in pursuit. Willing to attack bigger blockers and has good toughness. Finishes tackles. Shows cover skills in man and zone. Good awareness of routes in the underneath zone. Reads the quarterback and receivers and has a quick break on the ball. Solid match-up skill versus backs. Quick at the snap as a blitzer and can close when he gets free. New to the position so instincts are not typical of a top inside linebacker. Will hesitate at times and get caught by a bigger blocker. Lacks power to consistently strike and shed versus a straight up block. Can get stood up and washed out of a play. Will overrun a play at times and have to redirect to get in on the play. Showed improvement as the season progressed and played well in the post season. Teams will view his speed and athletic ability as something to work with. Has upside as a full-time starter inside in a 3-4 or as a 4-3 Will. He should be a solid contributor on special teams while he develops. 2017 stats: 82 T, 7 TFL, 1 sack, 3 PBU, 1 QBH, 1 INT. Edge speed:left 2.01, right 1.97. OSR:2/22. Fourth/fifth round. (A-33 3/8, H-9 1/8, BP-18, SS-4.15).
