Ourlads' Profile:

2017 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about MARCUS MAYE: Florida, 5115 212 4.50. Three-year starter from Melbourne, FL. He was named an All- America in 2015 but suffered a season ending shoulder injury versus South Carolina in November. Excels in special teams’ coverage. Well built for the variety of roles a safety needs to adhere to. Thick enough to factor as a run defending presence in the box. Fluid enough to move with receivers in space. Effective and reliable last level tackler. Doesn’t always look pretty but rarely misses. Shows excellent lateral range and will be found near the action very often. Can mix it up with blockers and still get involved in the takedown effort. Very smart and instinctive in deep coverage. Can forecast throws and routes simultaneously. Quality ball skills. Gets his hands on the ball without interfering. Fast read and react ability. Over commits and takes too many recovery steps. Shows some tightness in his hips when moving laterally in coverage. Doesn’t have the quick spring when leaping to defend passes. Doesn’t adjust his body weight in the air. Acceleration and long speed are average at best. Doesn’t have a demanding or overpowering presence. Won’t knock ball carriers back. More of a grab and drag tackler. Needs more accuracy as a tackler. Maye doesn’t have a lone standout trait to his game. However his all around, balanced abilities and skills can give a secondary versatility and reliability. Has plenty of experience in the box, in man coverage, and in deep zone. At his best when playing near the line of scrimmage. Maye can be a starter early in his career. Pro day numbers: 9-10/BJ, 7.10/3 cone. 2016 stats: 50 T, 1.5 TFL, 1 sack, 6 PBU, 1 INT. Medical exclusion at Combine, left arm. Third/fourth round. (A-32 1/2, H-9 1/8, VJ-33.5, SS-4.25).
