Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about QUAY WALKER:
Georgia, 6036 241 4.52. One-year starter, Cordele, GA. Part of an outstanding linebacker rotation the last three years. Snaps increased this year. Played off the ball both inside and outside. Outstanding downhill reactions he fits inside gaps well and is solid playing the cutback. Excellent in backside pursuit he shows the range to get to the alley and perimeter. Flashes block protection as he gathers and strikes with his hands while running his feet to get off the block. Very good lateral movement with easy change of direction in space. Shows blitz skill with a quick first step and ability to close. Normally a solid tackler he shows explosiveness and makes some big hits coming downhill. Excels in matchup zone situations keeping his head on a swivel while passing off shallow crossing routes and working to the next level. Has a good overall feel for zone coverage. Doesn’t cover grass and can challenge the throwing lane. Matches backs and tight ends with mirror ability. Likes to jam and re-route receivers but can be a little too physical at times and can be prone to penalties. Doesn’t always finish tackles and will miss at times. Occasionally stuck on a block as he can get a little high. Loses his angle of pursuit at times as he can over pursue in chase mode. Shows occasional wasted movement closing on a tackle creating too much space. Walker benefitted from playing in a great Georgia defense but he has solid NFL tools. He has the upside of an every down Will in a 3-4 or 4-3. Missed the Senior Bowl due to injury so did not get to observe him in an NFL setting. How he tests will be important.
