Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about DEVONTE WYATT:
Georgia, 6027 304 4.77. Two-year starter, Decatur, GA. Transferred from Hutchinson Community College. Finished his career first team All-SEC in 2021. Has been the most active run defender along an impressive Bulldogs’ front. His athleticism is top grade, and he plays with a pair of active, angry, and powerful hands. Can wear multiple hats along the defensive line and could credibly fit into any scheme. Saw his production waver but that could have been a product of such a star-studded defense. Simply put, he can beat one on one blockers with an array of postsnap strategies and skills. Plays as fast as any defensive tackle in the league right now and could end up being a feature player in time. Power packed, fire hydrant frame that brings tremendous force on the move. A violent force when he encounters his target, whether it is a blocker or a ball carrier or both at the same time. Exceptional speed for a player of his size and it shows up in pursuit. Will chase action down from behind. Great range within the tackle box as a run defender. Explosive first step, light feet when changing direction, and a solid closing burst. Gets around the ball often. Maintains a strong anchor against the double team when needed. Can change his tone snap to snap as a pass rusher. Can use power, but also will use nimble moves. Unpredictable intentions off the ball, will keep a blocker guessing. Has a hard time playing with a low pad level consistently. Has some general tightness in his lower body, mainly the ankles and knees. Does not shed contact all the time. Will get caught up. Production did not match the skill set and impressive tools. An off-field incident from 2020 needs to be investigated.
2021 stats: 39 T, 7 TFL, 2.5 sacks, 1 PBU, 3 QBH, 2 FF, 1 BK. Edge speed:left 2.21, right 2.25. OSR:22/36. First/second round. (A-32 5/8, H-9 7/8, BP-DNP, 10-1.62).
