Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about SEAN RHYAN:
UCLA, 6045 321 5.25. Junior entry, three-year starter, Ladera Ranch, CA. Capped his career off earning first-team All-Pac 12 honors. Rhyan, the grandson of a pro boxer and former big time rugby player, played left tackle for the Bruins but is a prime candidate to move inside at the next level where he could thrive. Does not have the ideal length and lower body looseness for tackle. Has a unique skill set and background to go along with tree-trunk thighs and excellent hand accuracy. He is rarely caught off balance, shows a strong mental understanding of the game, and will provide a sturdy presence inside with gap control as both a run and pass blocker. This is a pocket protector who will rarely ever lose ground and the experience he does have outside only increases his value. Densely built with thickness throughout his entire frame, notably below the waist. Plays with an easy-bending, powerful base with consistent width. Very cognizant of where his feet are. Can pick them up and step quickly as well as anchor them into the ground. Sturdy presence on contact. Explosive straight line burst with easy low pad level as a run blocker. Brings tremendous power to the table with accurate hand placement. Can lock defenders up with excellent grip-strength. Will get his hips in the hole while maintaining downhill momentum. Repeated techniques that trusts his lower half and anchor. Rarely caught over-extending. Short arms and it shows up often. Will get out-reached on a routine basis. Needs to be more aggressive with his punch. Will always be dependent on perfect technique and body positioning with very small margin for error. Timing is inconsistent, needs to reach his points as a lateral blocker with more urgency. Aggressiveness wavers.
OSR:23/51. Third/fourth round. (A-32 3/8, H-11 1/8, BP-21, 10-1.75).
