Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about DELARRIN TURNER-YELL:
Oklahoma, 5096 197 4.47. Three-year starter, Hempstead, TX. Second-team All-Big 12 in 2021. Primarily a one and two high safety in a variety of coverages. In some coverage would also drop down to the box. In deep coverage shows a quick pedal with pace to keep in position to break on routes over the top. Fluid in transition he easily flips his hips to change direction and gain ground. Processes route combinations and shows lateral agility to quickly bounce from route to route in Cover two. Has eye discipline to see multiple threats and read the quarterback. Sudden to react with the ball in the air. Can get to the catch point from a distance. In quarters or man coverage can match most inside receivers and mirrors route breaks up the field. Tracks well moving downhill and flashed tackling skill in the alleys. Makes some big hits squared up. Solid range in pursuit can chase across the field to the opposite perimeter. Can be a little out of control at times and take a bad angle chasing. Will miss tackles in space with a lack of quick gather and strike. Has been occasionally frozen by play action. In match coverage has been inconsistent and has struggled at times against speed receivers. He has the athletic traits of a two-way safety and will be best in a primarily zone scheme. Lacks ideal size and has had trouble staying on the field. Has missed playing time with injuries the last three seasons. Needs some development but has upside. Should be a core special team player and backup early in his career.
2021 stats: 52 T, 2.5 TFL, 1 PBU, 3 INT. OSR:14/16. Sixth/seventh round. (A-31 3/4, H-10, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).
