Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about D’MARCO JACKSON:
Appalachian State, 6006 233 4.55. Two-and-a-half-year starter, Spartanburg, SC. Second-team All-America, 2021 Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year, two-time first-team All-Sun Belt. Possesses solid height and good weight for his position, well-built. Fits best as an off-ball linebacker in a 4-3 scheme possibly as a Will. Shows quickness moving downhill and flashes ability to fit inside gaps. Effective taking open windows working to the ball. Shows the ability to slip blocks on the move with hand usage. Makes tackles in the backfield with proper form and finish. Has sideline to sideline range in pursuit and is at his best in chase mode. Has the tools to be a solid zone defender with quick reactions with the ball in the air. Can run the seam with a tight end. Decent zone awareness he can find the throwing lane and get to the catch point. Limited man reps but his agility projects well in man coverage. Can play out of control and has fringe instincts playing the run. Pursuit angles suffer as a result and he loses leverage to the ball. Doesn’t always play strong and allows some broken and missed tackles. Too easily blocked when faced up. Doesn’t always show great effort when confronted and will lose his path to the ball. Some hesitation at times and will pull up in pursuit. Route recognition is limited in zone versus multiple receivers. Tends to focus in one spot. A solid athlete with tools to develop. Has improved each year and his speed and athletic ability projects well on special teams.
