UCLA, 5112 189 4.50. One-year starter, San Marcos, CA. Small frame slot receiver with limited speed. Shifty, quick and elusive in creating separation on underneath routes, struggles to get near as much separation as the route tree gets deeper. Body catcher. Adds value as a sure-handed punt returner, who gets vertical on returns in a hurry. Efficient in run/pass option and quick game routes. Will need to add more to his bag of tricks to separate from slot corners, nickels and cover safeties in the NFL, especially on intermediate and deeper routes. Has seemingly mastered the first level choice route. Quick lateral transitions. Runs routes with a lot of foot turnover, an off-season training to open his stride length would be a huge benefit. Runs routes at one tempo. Will disappear from games at times, in crucial long down and distance situations, seems to get lost behind coverage. Poor eye discipline at the catch point. Routinely won on underneath routes versus zone coverages. Will see more man coverages in the NFL, will need to develop as a route runner. Lacks the speed and length to be a deep threat at the slot in the NFL. Limited burst in separation, more often his separation is created from his manipulation of zone defenders leverage and eyes. Should make a roster if he gets a shot to return punts in a pre-season game.
