Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about GRANT CALCATERRA:
SMU, 6037 241 4.62. One-year starter, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Transfer from Oklahoma where he started for three years and earned All-Big 12 honors twice. Had multiple concussions and sat out all of 2020 before transferring to SMU and earned second-team All-AAC honors. A savvy pass catcher with plus-movement skills off the line. Gets into his route fast, sticks his foot in the ground, drops his weight, and gets out of his break naturally quick. This is the kind of short to intermediate threat that can be a weapon on third downs. However, his lack of experience in-line and small frame for the position will limit his play-to-play impact. Can stick as a third tight end that is used on passing downs if the concussion medicals check out. Quickfooted route runner who knows how to get open. Shows a nice feel for underneath coverage. Gets away from man coverage and will take advantage up the seam if matched up against a lumbering linebacker. Has enough speed to knife through the top. Quarterback-friendly target with soft hands. Fast to get north after the catch with a seamless transition. Will keep his feet moving as a blocker with proper positioning and control. Undersized for life in the trenches, does not have a thick or strong base. Not an effective in-line blocker, will get tossed to the side regularly. Needs more presence at the catch point.
2021 stats: 38-465, 12.2 ypr, 4 TD. OSR:4/13. Sixth/seventh round. (A-33 1/4, H-10, VJ-31, SS-DNP).
