Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about THAYER MUNFORD:
Ohio State, 6056 328 5.39. Four-year starter, Cincinnati, OH. Earned All-Big 10 honors all four seasons, first-team in both 2020 and 2021 at two different positions. Primarily played tackle for the Buckeyes but shifted to guard as a senior. He is one of the few prospects who could realistically project to both positions at the next level. Has the size and power to handle NFL linemen right away. His long, wide, and thick frame complements his hand-strike and ability to anchor well. The lack of sudden footwork and inaccurate hands are a cause for worry, however. Has had a ton of experience, yet still makes repeated mistakes when he is forced to react laterally. The tools are there for a coach to try and refine, but there are too many holes in his game to project anything more than a versatile backup which still does present value. Massive, well-distributed frame with realistic inside-out capabilities. Plays a big and powerful game with the presence to swallow up a bull rush with feet screwed into the ground. Heavy hands attached to long, thick arms. Gets movement off the ball with a solid forward lean and enough bend at the knees to maximize lower body force. Usually gets his hands on first with a solid punch. Can stifle a defender, stand him up, and win the initial fight. Experience at tackle and guard forecasts what he can do at the next level. Heavy-footed with poor ankle flexion creates issues with lateral movement. Does not adjust well to secondary pass rush moves and can be beat regularly on stunts and twists. An over-setter with sloppy technique and questionable suddenness. Will have a hard time mirroring.
OSR:36/51. Fourth/fifth round. (A-35 1/8, H-10 1/8, BP-22, 10-1.84).
