Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about JAYLEN WATSON:
Washington State, 6014 197 4.51. One-year starter, Augusta, GA. Transfer from Ventura Community College in 2019. Tall lengthy corner with upside. Played multiple coverage with experience in Cover two, three and quarters along with press and off man. Physical in press he uses a stiff off and two hand jam to control receiver’s release. When in phase, battles at the catch point and wins most 50/50 balls. Flashes ability to ignore the first move away from leverage at the line. As a zone defender, uses his length to play the throwing lane with the ball in the air. Solid in run support he takes on blocks with strong hands and can come off and tackle. Solid tackling skill he comes downhill, squares up and drives through tackles. Can be overmatched against quality route runners at this point. Footwork is spotty with wasted steps. Has improved but tends to overextend on a route break and get lost. Needs to be more consistent in reactions to double moves. Wasted steps costs him reacting on the throw from off coverage. Has some solid traits and a team looking for size at corner could take him late as a developmental prospect.
