2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about JUSTYN ROSS:
Clemson, 6035 205 4.55. Three-year starter, Phenix City, AL. Earned Honorable Mention All-ACC honors in 2019. Ross’ career got off to a sizzling start as a true freshman, leading the National Champion Tigers with 1,000 yards, averaging a school record 21.7 yards per reception. Unfortunately, that was the high point of his career. He missed all of 2020 because of a surgery to repair congenital fusion in his neck. Got back on the field in 2021, but the suddenness and strength simply were not there. Also had surgery last November to repair a stress fracture in his foot. The smooth hips and footwork along with plusball skills can make up for some of the physical shortcomings, but he simply does not have enough juice or strength to factor right away. Needs to fight hard to reach just the average level of physical talent needed for the receiver position. Smooth and easy pass catcher who plays with slow eyes, fast hands. Has an easy moving lower half capable of making subtle changes in direction and momentum as a route runner. Gets away from contact without losing the integrity of his path. Solid build-up speed with plus-ball tracking down the field. Shows excellent coordination and timing when attacking the ball. Will see it into his hands repeatedly. Plays ultra-aware of boundaries and spacing. Explosion and burst are on the low end. Lacks power and strength at the catch point, can be thrown off his point too easily. Does not show much after the catch. Has seen his level of play decrease year by year.
2021 stats: 46-514, 11.2 ypr, 3 TD. Third/fourth round. (A-32 1/8, H-9 5/8, VJ-31.5, SS-DNP).
