Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about JOHN RIDGEWAY:
Arkansas, 6046 321 5.30. One-year starter, Bloomington, IL. Transferred from Illinois State where he started for four years (including just four games in the 2021 spring season). The sizable frame and powerful hands make him a potential two-gap force inside that can make a real difference in the running game. He won’t bring much to the table as a pass rusher, as he simply doesn’t have the juice to shoot a gap and he is a step behind when it comes to rush moves. Projects as a rotational interior defender with a bias toward run defense. Checks all the boxes when it comes to his frame. Well-developed below and above the waist, has clearly spent enough time in the weight room. Plus-length and heavy hands that he uses to strike and stand up the blocker. Creates impact with a double-punch that can be heard from across the field. Excellent stay at home, two-gapper that shows feel for the blocking scheme. Can move his feet laterally while stepping on ants and tracking the flow. Strong finisher when he gets to the ball carrier. A near nonfactor against the pass. Does not have the juice off the ball to penetrate a gap and shows a lack of an array of rush moves. Gets too tall at times and will make it easy for blockers to find his chest plate. Inconsistent lower body techniques.
