Junior entry, three year starter, The Colony, TX. Started two seasons at Colorado before transferring to Oregon in 2022. First team All-Pac 12 in 2022. Tall and lengthy with a slim frame. Outstanding athlete with remarkable quickness and agility. Versatile corner who has played off and press man along with outside third and quarters coverage. Often used to match the opponent’s number one receiver. As a press corner is physical on the release showing a powerful off-hand jam to disrupt the get off and stay in phase. Mirrors route breaks and stays in phase throughout the route. His ability to change direction on a dime puts him in position to cut off the throwing lane on the top of a route. As an off corner he shows a smooth pedal to maintain cushion and shows easy transition to open his hips and match route combinations. Has the speed to stay with a vertical route up the field and locate the ball. As a zone defender he positions himself well on multiple patterns in overlapping zones and has range with the ball in the air. Gets a good read on the delivery key and has an explosive burst breaking on underneath throws. Attacks the catch point and gets his hands on a lot of balls. Ball skills were much better at Oregon and he’s shown big play ability. Shows sound tackling skill and is consistent driving through tackles in space. While he can win at the catch point, bigger receivers can out-muscle him in close at times. As a result he can get pushed and drift off a route on a break. Will lose the leverage battle at times. Playing strength is a bit of an issue but his overall length and tools are rare. He projects as a number one corner in multiple schemes.
