Junior entry, two-year starter, Washington, DC. First team All-Big 10 in 2022. Played on the left side all three years and routinely graded well in pass protection. Plays with a wide wingspan and radius and understands how to use it. The body control and confidence he shows in his techniques can go a long way against pro edge rushers. The strong hands and the ability to keep them inside can be overwhelming for opponents. Has the look and play style of a guy who will be in the league for a long time. Tall and wide with plus-arm length. A hard blocker to get around because of sheer size alone. Has the suddenness to get out of his stance and beats the speed rusher to the meeting point. Excellent initial staying power with a strong enough anchor. Accurate punch while staying square and balanced. Gets across defenders in the running game. Always reaches his points at the second level. There are some leverage and overall power issues that show up at times. Needs to improve his lower body activation and bend. Will raise up at times, causing him to fall off his man. Shows awkward movement in space. Does not always move like a natural athlete. Grit and hustle seemed to slow down late in season both in 2021 and 2022. Has the potential to be a starting left tackle in the NFL once he starts to match his lower body strength and consistency on the same level as his hands. Most of his issues are correctable but could start off his career as a backup swing tackle.
