Kansas State | H: 6040 W: 255 40: 4.70 A: 3312 H: 0958 W: 8018
Junior entry, two year starter, Kansas City, MO. First team All-Big 12 in 2021 and ‘22. Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and second team All-America in 2022. Plays defensive end in Kansas State’s 3-3 base defense. Has a solid frame with outstanding length. Has added strength and size since arriving at Kansas State. He’s been extremely productive as an edge rusher getting to the quarterback. Has normally lined up in a five or wide nine alignment along with playing upright at times. With extreme quickness at the snap he attacks blockers with strong hands coming from a powerful upper and lower body. Stuns and separates on the move and can quickly redirect off a block to make a play in line. His shed ability allows him to excel at setting the edge versus the run. Excellent short space agility gets him to a lot of tackles for a defensive lineman. He’s relentless in pursuit. As a pass rusher the same motor shows as his quickness and long strides get him around the edge and bending to the quarterback. He flashes a variety of moves using both finesse and power. Shows a bull rush into an arm over or under and he can walk a tackle back to the quarterback, get off and make a play. Protection schemes have to account for him as he is difficult to single block. Has some technique issues and tends to rely on power or just running the edge in the pass rush. He could use some refinement in pass rush technique at the next level. He can play a little out of control at times taking a side rather than attacking a block. He’s made some big plays that way but has also taken himself out of the play at times. That said his talent and NFL upside easily could put him in the first round.
2022 Stats: 46 T, 11 TFL, 8.5 sacks, 1 PBU, 4 QBH, 2 FF. 1st/2nd round.
