2023 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about TULI TUIPULOTU:
Southern Cal | H: 6040 W: 266 40: 4.80 A: 3214 H: 1018 W: 7778
Two year starter, Hawthorne, CA. First team All-Pac 12, Pac 12 Defensive Player of the Year and finalist for the Bednarik award in 2022. The definition of versatility, Tuipulotu has played every position on the defensive line. Primarily an interior defender early in his career before becoming extremely productive on the edge in 2022. Has outstanding quickness at the snap and can get into the frame of an offensive tackle practically on his set. Plays with a sense of urgency and a non-stop motor. Playing the run he attacks blocks with heavy hands and is quick to shed and locate the ball. Solid lateral agility he can redirect inline versus cut backs. Adept at setting the edge versus outside runs with range to pursue to the perimeter. Runs through tackles and can leverage and adjust to ball carrier in space. As a pass rusher is effective as a wide nine coming off the edge. His snap quickness shows as he can outrun a blocker around the corner with little contact. Quick to shoot his hands he can jolt a blocker off-balance and quickly get around him to the quarterback. Often uses a quick stun bull rush to an arm under or push pull to disengage. Can adjust to quarterback step up and has made some plays with second effort coming off the edge. Does not show ideal bend and squeeze and can be vulnerable to an athletic tackle riding him out. He will need to develop more of a counter move at the next level. Gets upright at times and stalemated. Occasionally in his zeal to get upfield will open a running lane. Has some missed tackles over running the play. His production and versatility will be attractive and he should find a place in an NFL rotation.
