Three-year starter, Anderson, SC. Freshman All-America honorable mention in 2019. Possesses a thick upper body with a well-built lower half, with plenty of room for growth all over. At the snap, fires off the ball with quick reaction speed and good upfield burst. Physical at the point-of-attack, and utilizes hand placement and pad level to help him win leverage upon engagement. Versus base blocks, displays considerable functional strength and foot drive to create push and penetrate the backfield. Will create extension with good arm length to help leverage his run responsibility. Quick to diagnose run schemes utilizing good mental processing. Versus zone blocking, quick to squeeze inside using a quick first step and strong hands to skinny up and control his gap. Solid lateral agility matched with his strength allow him to cross the face of the offensive lineman when needed. Shows quality pass rush ability utilizing a bull rush to collapse the pocket. Shows ability to win with a few different pass rush moves. Can split double teams versus pass to pressure the quarterback. Fringe contact balance when engaged causes him to end up on the ground far too often. Has been pushed around on the interior, and can be thrown out of his gap responsibility. Struggles to anchor down when double teamed in the run game and will get driven off the line-of-scrimmage. Inconsistent motor. Needs to improve his athleticism in a few areas. Heavy feet limit his ability to stunt. Needs to work on implementing more counter moves in pass rush when his initial move is unsuccessful. Often starts his pass rush move early, needs to time it up better to increase success rate. A promising prospect if he can stay upright and off the ground more often.
