One year starter, Sacramento, CA. Honorable mention All-Pac 12 in 2022. Transferred from Miami in 2018 after playing in eight games there in 2017. Has been a contributor on offense, defense and special teams. Prior to 2022 had significant reps as a tight end. Became a full time starter as a rush linebacker in 2022 and emerged with a solid season. Played wide from a two point and as a five technique from a three point. Flashes first step quickness and can engage blockers with powerful hands to stun and separate. Can set the edge and come off a block laterally to chase to the perimeter. Has been used to match backs on a flat release and shows enough speed to stay with a wheel route. As a pass rusher has a powerful bull rush and can collapse the pocket forcing quarterbacks to bail out and scramble. Length and speed show while working around the corner. He has fundamental tackling skill but has some misses in space. Stiffness in his hips shows in space as movements often become segmented, changing direction. He can get upright and lose ball side leverage on a block. Still raw as a pass rusher as if he doesn’t win with initial quickness and speed he can get stalemated by a powerful tackle. Lacks a variety of moves and relies too much on outrunning or bull rushing tackles. Needs to develop shed techniques and counter moves. Has played well on multiple special teams and has upside to develop.
2022 Stats: 39 T, 8.5 TFL, 6 sacks, 2 PBU, 1 QBH. OSR:6/43. 6th/7th round.
