Three year starter, Los Angeles, CA. Graduate transfer from Nevada. First team All-Pac 12 and Butkus award finalist. Played wide receiver his first two years at Nevada before switching to linebacker. Slightly undersized he has played Will linebacker both in the box and as an overhang player. Extremely fast twitch athlete, he’s quick with initial read and can chase to the perimeter. Often outruns blocks on plays working outside. Has outstanding agility to make plays in space. Launches into tackles and can blow up a ball carrier with initial strike. Wraps up and rarely misses. Shows outstanding blitz skill with excellent anticipation at the snap. He can adjust and chase down scrambling quarterbacks making some big hits in the process. Excels in coverage with outstanding range as a zone defender. He can run the seam with a fast slot and easily flips his hips to find the throwing lane. Processes route combinations with a knack for finding the ball. Sudden breaking on the throw. Solid man cover skills he can mirror backs and inside receivers with ability to undercut route breaks. Has the speed to stay in phase on vertical routes. Shows some weakness in the box as he’s not a powerful take on guy. Climbing blockers can lock him up at the second level. He needs to improve knee bend and hand usage taking on blocks. Occasionally misreads inside runs and can allow a cutback lane on the backside. Not a consistent gather and strike tackler. Relies on big collisions and doesn’t always run his feet. At times he allows yards after contact as a result. Has the tools of a three down Will linebacker. Needs some development but should contribute right away in sub packages and special teams.
