2023 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about COLBY WOODEN:
Auburn | H: 6040 W: 273 40: 4.79 A: 3334 H: 1038 W: 8038
Three year starter, Lawrenceville, GA. Versatile prospect with experience and defensive end and tackle. Has played all along the line as a five, four, four-I, three and two technique. He has fluctuated in weight based on what Auburn has asked him to play. He has ranged between 270 and 290 in his career. He plays with a high motor and at his best penetrating gaps at the snap. He’s been effective using an angle or slant technique hitting a gap from a head up alignment. He is quick at the snap and can disrupt blocking schemes and avoid blocks. He shoots his hands into blockers turning quickness into power and flashes separation and shed ability on the move. As a pass rusher shows a bull rush into a move and has an effective spin move as a counter. Uses his hands to swipe and chop to keep blockers off and flashes arm over and under moves. He never really had a true position at Auburn as he lacked the closing burst and chase ability of an edge rusher and the ideal anchor of an interior defender. He played well on the inside but that was partly because Auburn kept him on the move for the most part. He had problems with double teams and some combo blocks. He worked as an edge defender at the combine but may fit best as a rotational defender primarily inside. He has enough ability to contribute and make a team but will have to have a scheme fit and develop into a role.
