Four year starter, Jacksonville, FL. Versatile safety with solid size and decent athletic ability for the position. He’s played all over the secondary including corner, nickel and this past season as a safety. Has played a variety of coverage with experience in quarters, cover three and two. As a quarters safety is aggressive coming downhill and launches into tackles with some big hits close to the line and in the backfield. Shoots his hands into blockers and can separate and shed on the move. As a zone defender processes route combinations and has vision to see multiple threats and the quarterback. Positions well on overlapping zones and flashes ability to find the throwing lane. Has ball skills to high point the ball and get his hands to the catch point. Reacts well on high/ low routes as a flat defender and is quick to break up on short throws. Has aligned over slots and tight ends and flashes mirror ability in a short space. Not a consistent match defender as his hips are sticky changing direction. He’s more fast than quick and lacks a recovery burst if separated on a route break. Angles to the ball are inconsistent and affects his range in pursuit. Doesn’t consistently gather on tackles and misses too many tackles as a result. He has some upside to develop but the ceiling isn’t really high. He has been outstanding in kick coverage and that along with his versatility will allow him to compete for a roster spot.
