Four year starter, East Palo Alto, CA. First team All-Mountain West the past three seasons. Underrated, he’s been a productive starter the past three years. Solid size and length for the edge he’s played from a two and three point stance in wide nine and five alignments. Quick first step he engages linemen with arm extension and usually gets ball side leverage on blocks. Flashes knee and ankle flexion attacking blocks. Can set the edge with power to knock a blocker back and shed on the move. Above average agility to redirect and make tackles on the edge. Solid tackle radius he can engulf and wrap up a ball carrier. As a pass rusher, turns quickness into power and shows a variety of moves. His arsenal includes outside arm chop, arm over, arm under and a quick inside spin move. Stresses blockers with consistent second effort. Coming off a block has a closing burst to the quarterback. While he can get around the corner he tends to play high and lacks consistent bend. At times his power is neutralized and can get knocked upright and off balance by a powerful tackle. Athletic tackles have been able to get leverage and mirror counter moves. Leg drive is inconsistent and he doesn’t always finish. Has been an ascending player and had his best year in 2022. Has the potential to be a rotational option in the NFL.
2022 Stats: 69 T, 18 TFL, 9 sacks, 1 PBU, 7 QBH, 2 FF, 1 FR. 4th/5th round.
