Junior entry, one-year starter, Baton Rouge, LA. Thick, muscular interior defensive lineman who carries his weight well. Plays best as a one-tech in four-down fronts, and as a zero-tech in three-down fronts; can be relied upon in one-gap and two-gap schemes. Solid upfield burst to get off the ball and make some ground in his initial steps. Plays with great pad level, and engages with violence. Lands his hands consistently in proper location and will work them inside when needed. Versus run, utilizes a sturdy anchor and excellent contact balance to stalemate solo blocks, and shows ability to take on double teams and hold the point. He maintains leverage using notable lateral agility to slide with offensive linemen versus zone run schemes. Uses active, strong hands to shed blocks and wrap up ball carriers at the line-of-scrimmage. Considerable athletic ability to win in stunts utilizing a combination of agility and foot quickness. Shows some success as a pass rusher using a bull rush move to collapse the pocket. While he has won in pass rush, he is not someone you want to rely on in passing down situations as he lacks a pass rush plan and utilizes a limited arsenal of moves to succeed consistently. Needs to show a higher motor in pass rush situations. Shows a lack of desire in pursuit to chase ball carriers from behind. He will need to add strength to hold his own as a nose tackle at the next level. Not a three-down player at the NFL level.
