Alabama | H: 6007 W: 230 40: 4.65 A: 3212 H: 1014 W: 7814
Four year starter, Sacramento, CA. Was a starter his first two years at Tennessee before transferring. First team All-SEC in 2022. Has good height with a slim frame. Played primarily inside in the Alabama scheme and was the defensive signal caller. Possesses solid leadership skills. Quick getting downhill on run reads with consistent fits on inside and outside gaps. Shows decent redirection skills inline. Flashes the ability to slip blocks on the move working outside. Often beats a block with quickness. Quick with his hands attacking blocks he turns it into power stunning a block initially. Usually maintains leverage working to the ball. Shows range in pursuit and can chase across the field. Solid tackling skill he can gather, lay a hit and wrap up. Makes most plays in space. Shows outstanding blitz skill shooting inside gaps and closing on the quarterback. Can adjust and chase down mobile quarterbacks. He’s been a solid cover linebacker with excellent route recognition and reactions in zone coverage. Quick reacting on the throw he has excellent range with the ball in the air. Has the speed to match backs and tight ends. Can mirror routes and stay in phase. While he has speed his angles to the ball are inconsistent and this affects range getting to the perimeter. Has some trouble shedding powerful blockers that get to the second level. Needs to be more explosive working through a block. Shows occasional hesitation in initial reaction keeping him out of plays at times. Will occasionally lunge and miss a tackle. There are times he gives up yards after contact after an initial hit. Has three down potential as a developmental Will in the right scheme. Has flashed outstanding play but will need to improve consistency. Should have special team value.
