Five-year starter, Lansing, MI. First-team All-America this past season, Third-team All-MAC in 2021. While he plays on the edge often, his best fit at the next level is as an interior defensive lineman. He carries his weight well which helps him win immediately with a quick first step, and he makes significant ground right off the snap. A physical player who shows a violent engagement. Utilizes his physicality and aggressive temperament to shove offensive linemen into the backfield with brute strength. Leverages his run responsibility with authority and will not be moved out of his gap. Quick with his hands to rapidly shed blocks with power. Quality lean when working around offensive linemen to get in the backfield. Uses a study anchor to drop his weight and maintain his ground versus double teams. Utilizes powerful clubs and rip moves matched with considerable foot quickness and agility to slant gaps and to stunt. Has a variety of moves he uses to help him win in pass rush with both speed and power. Has a pass rush plan coming into every play, and utilizes counter moves when his initial move does not succeed. Utilizes a powerful bull rush to collapse the pocket and drive linemen into the quarterback. He shows the versatility to add value as a pass rusher from both the interior and the edge. He closes on the quarterback in a hurry when he gets into the backfield using exceptional burst. Tackles with proper form and will slam them into the ground with his strength. Needs to lower his pad level as he will get stood up and defeated at the line-of-scrimmage. Needs to land his hands more consistently in order to defeat blocks. When rushing from the edge, he lacks bend to corner. Needs to show more effort and desire in pursuit.
