Junior entry, three year starter, Cibolo, TX. Long, tall corner he shows solid athleticism for his size and has versatility to play several roles including safety. Was mostly used as outside third and quarter corner in 2022 but had reps in press and off man. In off coverage shows a shuffle pedal and maintains cushion with adjustments with pace of receiver. Has also used a catch and run technique to disrupt the route. Quick to turn and run he usually stays with vertical routes up the field. Quick to plant and drive on underneath throws he can be physical at the catch point. Uses his length to battle for the ball and shows a second effort to get it out. Makes some big hits coming downhill. With limited reps in man coverage he was effective. He’s patient, ignoring the first move away from leverage and has a burst reacting to the release. In press he can be physical sticking a jam on an outside release. Has above average mirror ability and easily flips his hips to turn and quickly react to route breaks. As a zone defender he normally has good vision for multiple threats and can close voids in overlapping zones. Quick to process flat routes and screens. In run support he can outrun or slip blocks on the move. Physical tackler he normally wraps and drives. That said there have been times he launches and doesn’t wrap. He shows tightness at times reacting and can get out of position as a result. In recovery mode has occasionally been grabby. Catch up speed is a little suspect. Has some lapses getting locked on one route in a zone. Playmaking skill is there but inconsistent. Has solid tools and size for an NFL corner.
2022 Stats: 33 T, 2 PBU, 1 FR. OSR:24/30. 5th/6th round.
