2023 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about ZACH EVANS:

Mississippi | H: 6000 W: 215 40: 4.48 A: 3158 H: 1014 W: 7812

Junior entry, Houston, TX. Spent two seasons at TCU where he started games both years. Transferred to Mississippi for 2022 where he also split starting duties. Evans is a complete package back with the prototype combination of speed and size to immediately contribute in the NFL. Has elite movement traits across the board that look loose and flexible, but twitchy and explosive. He is a homerun hitter (6.9 ypc over career) with the right mentality. While his greatest attributes are movement-based, he shows plenty of toughness and grit. He opted to challenge his skill set in the SEC by transferring, showing the inherent competitive mindset. Improved his stock with how he played against the country’s top talent. Has flashed superstar potential but needs to clean up specific components to his skill set before being relied upon as a top back. A smooth and easy mover through space. Can stay square while changing direction laterally. Mobile hips and ankles make transitions easy while moving at a high rate of speed. Contact balance and acceleration are top notch, making him productive after contact. Shows the necessary grit and power to get the tough yards based on the situation. Breakaway speed and the next gear are always on tap. Clear vision always has a plan and a backup plan. Ball security needs to be cleaned up. Five fumbles on 290 career carries. Does not always stick with the flow of a play, needs to get to the lane quicker on a more consistent basis. Does not always have that full load behind his contact on downhill runs. Would like to see more commitment to his initial intention. Passing game contributions were never a big part of his game and he has too many drops. Was never the focal point of a running game, but it could work in his favor. He comes into the league with plenty of tread left on the tires in addition to his combination of size and speed complementing his running style well.

2022 Stats: 936 yds, 6.5 ypc, 9 TD, 12 rec, 119 yds, 9.9 ypr, 1 TD. 3rd/4th round.
